In 1989, feminist activists the Guerrilla Girls famously reported that less than 5% of the works in the Modern Art section at the Met were by female artists—but that 85% of the nudes were women. In 2012, the group did a recount. The numbers had barely changed.

Women x Women, a series curated by Absolut Art and Tictail calls attention to the narrow lens through which women are depicted in art, and scrutinized in the world at large. Featuring eleven hand-selected female artists from our communities, we asked them to create a unique work that reflects their qualms with women's portrayal in art and reaction to the male gaze.

May 19th - June 1st 2017, exhibited in busy outdoor locations in Manhattan's Lower East Side.
